Best time of day to fish: Mid Day-Early Evening
Best stretch: Charlemont, and Florida, from the Charlemont boat ramp to Fife Dam.
Best access point:
Florida to Shelburne: From Greenfield, just follow the river along Rte 2 to the many public access areas that also lead to productive fly fishing waters. Once into Charlemont, follow the river along Zoar Road then River Road to additional access and the two Deerfield River Fly Fishing Catch and Release Sections.

This is a great time to be on the river . Fish are highly active, water temps are perfect and we’ve been having some crazy hatches. Trout are responding to dry flies and nyphs equally well. Big dry stimulators like the Madame X or PMX are also working on the big browns. With the catch & release sections being by fished heavily, don’t overlook the stretch along route 2. There are several hot spots where the feeder brooks meet the Deerfield.
